What We Collect

By default, the site does not collect personal information. The estimator runs locally in your browser using JavaScript and we do not store your responses on a server.

Anonymous Research Data (Optional)

Before running the calculator, you may check the box labeled "Anonymously share my answers to help improve safe sleep research." If you opt in, your calculator answers and estimated risk result are submitted anonymously via Google Forms to a private Google Sheets research dataset. Google acts as the data processor for this submission. We collect no name, email address, IP address, or any other identifying information alongside these answers. The purpose is to understand real-world safe sleep patterns and improve the tool over time. You can use the calculator without opting in at any time. Google's privacy policy applies to data processed through Google Forms; see Google's Privacy Policy.

Optional Contact

If you use our contact us form (e.g., feedback or support), we receive your email address and message contents. We use this only to respond, and delete messages after resolution unless required to retain them by law.

Support / Buy Me a Coffee

If you choose to support the site via Buy Me a Coffee, you will be directed to their platform. Buy Me a Coffee collects and processes any payment and personal information you provide. We may receive your name, email address, and donation amount from Buy Me a Coffee for record-keeping. Buy Me a Coffee's privacy policy governs their data practices; see Buy Me a Coffee Privacy Policy.

Calculator Feedback (Optional)

After running the calculator, you may optionally submit a star rating and written feedback about your experience. If you submit a rating, we receive your star rating (1–5), any written comment you provide, and your estimated risk result for context. This data is transmitted via Web3Forms and delivered to us by email. No name or email address is collected. We use this feedback only to improve the tool.

Analytics

We use two services to understand traffic patterns and improve our website: Cloudflare Web Analytics and Google Analytics.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for basic traffic measurement. This privacy-first service does not use cookies, collect personal data like your IP address, or track your activity across other websites. We only see aggregate, anonymized data, and because individual users are not tracked, an opt-out is not necessary.

Google Analytics

We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors engage with our site in more detail. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect standard internet log information and visitor behavior information in an anonymous form, such as the pages you visit and the time you spend on the site. This helps us compile statistical reports on website activity.

Children’s Privacy

This site is intended for parents and caregivers. It is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information directly, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use standard safeguards appropriate for a static, client-side site. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

International Users

If you access the site from outside the U.S., you understand information may be processed in the U.S. or other countries/regions where protections may differ from your local laws.

Your Choices

• You can use the estimator without providing any personal data to us.
• We use your browser's localStorage to store a timestamp that limits anonymous research submissions to once per 24 hours. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
• You can contact us to request deletion of emails you sent to us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the site. The “Last updated” date will change accordingly.
